ErrorCodes relies on community contributions to build the most complete diagnostic code database. To maintain quality and safety, please follow these guidelines when submitting content.

Do

  • Submit only genuine, first-hand repair experiences
  • Be specific about your vehicle (year, make, model) - fixes vary by vehicle
  • Include as much detail as possible about the problem and solution
  • Mention the tools and parts used, including part numbers when available
  • Report whether the fix actually resolved the issue long-term
  • Be respectful and helpful to other members
  • Flag content you believe is inaccurate or harmful

Don't

  • Recommend bypassing safety systems, emissions equipment, or regulations
  • Recommend ignoring warning lights or driving with known safety issues
  • Post advertising, affiliate links, or spam
  • Copy content from other websites or copyrighted sources
  • Submit fabricated or unverified information
  • Post offensive, abusive, or inappropriate content
  • Submit duplicate entries for codes that already have definitions

Moderation

All submissions are reviewed by our moderation team before being published. This ensures accuracy and safety for all users. The review process typically takes 1-3 business days.

Consequences of Violations

  • Content removal without notice
  • A warning on your account
  • Reduced submission limits (after 5 rejected submissions)
  • Temporary or permanent account suspension for serious or repeated violations

Trusted Contributors

Members with 10 or more approved submissions earn a “Trusted Contributor” badge displayed alongside their submissions. Trusted contributors still go through the moderation process, but their track record is visible to other users.
